We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in clinical forensic psychology, correctional psychology, or police psychology. Within clinical forensic psychology, expertise in the assessment of people involved in the criminal legal system—including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, violence or recidivism risk, forensic neuropsychological assessment, and related forms of forensic clinical evaluation—is particularly desirable. Because this is a tenured or tenure-eligible faculty appointment, candidates with clinical or applied expertise must also demonstrate a strong program of empirical research, with a research record and agenda consistent with appointment to the tenure-track faculty of a research university.

We are especially interested in candidates whose expertise expands areas that are not currently represented or are underrepresented among SIF faculty, including, but not limited to, clinical forensic psychology, correctional psychology, police psychology, and clinical neuroscience. Responsibilities and workload will depend on the appointment category. The standard teaching load for tenured or tenure-eligible faculty is four courses per academic year (two per semester), with a requirement that faculty maintain an active program of high-quality empirical research. The teaching load for clinical faculty rangers from six to eight courses per academic year (three or four per semester), depending on other responsibilities associated with the particular assignment. Clinical faculty are expected to bring their professional or clinical expertise to teaching, experiential learning, student mentorship, professional training, and engagement with relevant external partners. Clinical faculty are not required to engage in research but may choose to do so based on their interests, with the workload structured accordingly.

We invite applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2026-2027 academic year to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the intersection of psychology and law. Our psychology and law program includes courses in forensic psychology and those in broader areas of psychology and law (including those rooted in social, developmental, and other non-clinical branches of psychology). These include survey and advanced courses in psychology and law, the psychology of criminal investigations, police psychology, correctional psychology, and psychological criminology (e.g., "The Criminal Mind"), as well as courses in research methods and capstone experiences. Accordingly, we encourage people with expertise in clinical, forensic, and other branches of psychology to apply.
